1 pair Lowther PM8A’s
These have been described as Super PM6A’s. That is a pretty good description. A slightly larger Alnico magnet than the PM6A, but not nearly so pricey as the the PM7A which was the next step up from the PM6A. Just a little more warmth, and the response is a little flatter and more extended.
I bought this pair to try for myself, and they sound as advertised. After using them for a while, I had to steal the cones for a different purpose, so this pair has a brand new pair of silver voice coil, 15 ohm cones attached. They are, for all purposes, like new in the box, and would cost $1750 with the silver voice coil option. But you can get them for the price of new PM6A’s.
